Collaboration in Healthcare - Everyone Matters

"Neil Jordan, Worldwide General Manager of the Health Industry for Microsoft. Doctors, specialists and other healthcare professionals need to be able to share the most up-to-date information, whether they are in a hospital or clinic, treating a patient, travelling between facilities or teleworking. They need communication and collaboration tools that help them connect with each other and with critical information to improve their performance and reduce errors."

“make them use it” is not a valid EMR adoption strategy

"Of course we are all aware that a traditional EMR rollout is a huge financial commitment (thus raising the financial risk considerably, in addition to the operational risk of upending the healthcare organisation for a minimum of two years while the project is implemented). In many cases, those risks are well flagged and whilst typically underestimated, they have at least been given strong consideration. However the biggest risk to such a project is usually one that doesn’t receive much attention – user adoption"

EMR Implementation – Big Bang or Phased Approach?

"One question that we have come across with clients time and time again is “How should we implement an EMR?” This usually refers to whether a hospital should take a Big Bang approach to the implementation of Electronic Medical Records or phase it in over time. One of the largest concerns with hospital management during the implementation of an EMR are..."

Consumption Based Pricing for your Electronic Medical Record

Consumption Based Pricing for your Electronic Medical Record

Paul Mooney - Business Development Director – ROW, Sláinte Healthcare

Paul Mooney investigates the drawbacks which can often arise with EMR pricing. Traditional EMR vendors want you to commit to large perpetual licences. However there are other options, one where the hospital takes less of the risk by sharing it with the vendor and both can share the reward. This strategy means that the vendor is incentivised to get the hospitals EMR up and running quickly, taking months not years. Paul outlines this concept of consumption based pricing, comparing it to traditional based pricing.

Kerry McLaverty, Clinical Services Manager, LauraLynn Children’s Hospice

“Vitro has allowed us to reduce patient admission time by up to 16%. For patient re-admission, the time saving has been even greater, at up to 22% and only a couple of months later this has now been reduced to 50%. This time saving has a major benefit to our children, their parents and guardians and their care givers.   Stress, administrative burden and clinical risk have all been impacted and reduced”. Kerry McLaverty, Clinical Services Manager, LauraLynn, Ireland Children’s Hospice

Operation Smile International

"We met Sláinte's CEO and their people, they have literally taken our medical record issue and computerised it… just imagine what that can do to revolutionise the way that we take care of the children in future. It’s going to augment the way children are helped and they did it with this wonderful smile, energy and enthusiasm that you can't even quantitate." - Dr Bill Magee, D.D.S, M.D., Co Founder & CEO,

'A paper medical record is good because it allows you to look after that one patient but imagine having an EMR then you are able to understand what’s happening with hundreds or thousands of patients. Vitro has unleashed this amazing opportunity to understand our patients." - Ruben Ayala, M.D. Senior Vice President Medical Affairs of Operation Smile.

"Vitro is an amazing solution because it lets us take the existing paper workflow that Operation Smile has done such a great job developing, and put that on tablet devices without changing the look and feel of the workflow, and so for the clinician who is already used to the paper workflow, they have that same workflow but now it is on a tablet and we are able to digitise that workflow."
