LauraLynn

A place where children can receive dignified care and families can receive ongoing support from a team of dedicated professionals.

Children's Hospice — Ireland LauraLynn

LauraLynn is Ireland's first and only dedicated children's hospice, evolving from a 1925 convalescence home for children from Dublin's inner city into the specialist facility it is today.

On a 3.6-acre site in Leopardstown, LauraLynn operates a number of residential buildings, including LauraLynn House, which opened in 2011 as a dedicated 8-bed children's palliative care unit.

The hospice was founded following the McKenna family's tragedy — they lost two daughters, Laura and Lynn, to separate illnesses within two years — and it exists to close a gap in Irish healthcare by providing palliative care for children with life-limiting conditions, and support for their families through and beyond end-of-life care.

Vitro has allowed us to reduce patient admission time by up to 16%. For patient re-admission, the time saving has been even greater, at up to 22% and only a couple of months later this has now been reduced to 50%. This time saving has a major benefit to our children, their parents and guardians and their care givers. Stress, administrative burden and clinical risk have all been impacted and reduced.
