Sláinte Healthcare replaces paper with electronic charts in top Australian Hospital

Sláinte Healthcare to deliver healthcare technology to Calvary Private Hospital in Australia

Sláinte Healthcare, the leading international healthcare technology company, is working with Calvary Health Care Hospital group to create a paperless hospital environment by replacing its paper patient charts with electronic software.  The deal is Sláinte Healthcare’s second in Australia and paves the way for the installation of electronic patient records and paperless hospital systems worldwide.

The announcement was made during the Enterprise Ireland Trade and Investment Mission to Australia led by Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD.

Welcoming the announcement Minister Bruton said: “Healthcare is a sector which offers great global opportunities to Irish companies, and we have put in place a range of measures to support businesses in this area. Sláinte Healthcare is a highly innovative company carving out a strong global reputation for the quality of its technology solutions, and provides a great example of the quality of Irish companies in this area. Today’s announcement that Sláinte Healthcare has signed a deal with one of Australia’s leading hospitals to create a paperless hospital environment is great news, and a great example of what dynamic Irish companies are doing in this area. I congratulate Sláinte Healthcare and wish them every success for continued growth in this region”.

Sláinte Healthcare is installing its revolutionary product Vitro in Calvary’s Bethlehem Hospital in Victoria.  Vitro is revolutionising how patients’ health is managed by enabling doctors and administrators to operate in a paper-free environment.  It allows users to capture complex clinical data electronically which benefits hospitals, doctors and patients by reducing costs and capturing data to support business analysis & research. Its aim is to enhance and not change the way doctors operate and ultimately improve patient care and outcomes.

Mark Doran, National CEO of Calvary Health Care said, “Sláinte Healthcare’s software Vitro will take Bethlehem Hospital in Victoria from paper to paperless in just nine months, transforming the way we operate. Vitro’s Rapid Implementation model has meant we are now able to capture patient data electronically, using the forms familiar to our clinicians with little change management required.  We will be able to provide an even higher standard of care to our patients and give our doctors and care providers improved decision support tools.”

Vitro is being used in hospitals worldwide, including in Australia, the Middle East and Ireland.  It is also being used by the International charity Operation Smile who work in over 60 countries worldwide. Operation Smile assists in the provision of approximately 220,000 free cleft lip and cleft palate surgical procedures to children and young adults to date.

Andrew Murphy, Chief Executive, Sláinte Healthcare, said:  “Healthcare services throughout the world are moving towards electronic patient records and paperless patient management systems.  Sláinte Healthcare’s products offer hospitals and healthcare providers the tools that enable them to do this and thereby deliver savings to and improve efficiencies for healthcare services on an international scale.”

Andrew continued: “The popularity of Vitro has contributed substantially towards the growth of Sláinte Healthcare.  Since I set up the Company in 2006 we have achieved a growth rate of 1639% and our products are now in use by over 40 healthcare providers worldwide. Calvary Health Care is a forward thinking and innovative group and we are delighted to work with them to deliver better healthcare in Australia.

Andrew Murphy is a nominee in this year’s Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2014.  Sláinte Healthcare was ranked third in Deloitte’s fifty fastest growing companies for 2013 and in the top 100 of the ‘Technology Fast 500 EMEA 2013.’
