LauraLynn goes paperless with Slainte Healthcare's electronic medical record

Sláinte Healthcare collaborates with LauraLynn to provide their EMR

Sláinte Healthcare, Ireland’s leading international health technology company, is helping Ireland’s children’s hospice, LauraLynn create a paperless environment with the introduction of an electronic medical record system Vitro.

The roll out of Vitro at LauraLynn has enabled them to become a paperless hospital and will reduce the administration workload on staff, freeing up their time to work directly with the numbers of families who are being cared for at the hospice.

Acting Director of Clinical Services with LauraLynn, Kerry McLaverty commented, “Our nursing and clinical staff are fully on-board with the new system. From our initial usage of Vitro, we anticipate significant quality improvement outcomes including better governance, document standardisation and most importantly, reduction in time spent filling in medical charts. The time savings achieved will allow staff do what is so important for our children - to make the most of short and precious lives by spending invaluable time with children and their families.”

Sharon Morrow, CEO with LauraLynn added, “As the generosity of the Irish people provides funding for our Hospice Service, we are always looking at ways we can operate more efficiently while never compromising the care which our children and their families need. Vitro meets this requirement unequivocally.”

Vitro replaces what is too often an inefficient paper based process with an entirely electronic one. This allows for faster administration, less duplication and the creation of opportunities for financial and administrative efficiencies. The project which took just four months to implement has been rolled out across all of LauraLynn’s clinical functions.

Speaking about the launch, CEO of Sláinte Healthcare, Andrew Murphy said, “Technology and health are intrinsically linked but it can be difficult for an organisation to relinquish the ‘old ways’ we are very proud that an organisation such as LauraLynn recognises the many benefits of using Vitro and has wholeheartedly adopted the system.”

Established in 2006, Sláinte Healthcare is the fastest growing healthcare technology company in Ireland having grown by over 1,500% in the five years between 2008 and 2013. Headquartered in Sandyford in Dublin, the company employs over 130 people across its offices in Ireland, the Middle East, Australia, South America and the UK.
